The Manhattan Kickers first team kicked off their 2017-18 first division campaign after being promoted in the Spring against a familiar opponent—Doxa F.C. The two teams battled for promotion in the second division over the last two seasons, even facing off in the State Cup final. On Sunday, it was the Kickers who started off the stronger side, building a 3-0 lead by halftime with goals from Toric Robinson, Mohamadou Diaby and Brian Morris. In the second half, Doxa F.C. would find three goals of their own and both teams would take a point in the opening game, tying 3-3.
The second team lost 1-0 to a feisty Doxa F.C. reserve team.
