First Team Wins 3-1, Over-30 Premier Wins 1-0

First Team

On a foggy, slick Saturday night on Randall's Island, the Kickers first team jumped out head of NY Shamrock SC for a 2-0 lead at halftime. The first goal was scored when Jake Mann beat a defender and whipped a shot off the near post that found the feet of Lucas Shanks alone in the box who neatly slotted the ball home. Just before halftime, the Kickers were rewarded a penalty for a handball on a cross, which Bryan Baracaldo converted to go up 2-0. In the second half, the Kickers did a bit of defending, eventually conceding a penalty on a debatable handball of their own, and Shamrock pulled it back to a one-goal game. Just as the Kickers were looking to let their lead slip away, a corner kick skipped off the head of Chris Smith and onto the head of Mokrane Ait Belkacem waiting on the back post. At 3-1, the Kickers were able to kill off the remaining 10 minutes with possession and secure three much-needed points.

Over-30 Premier

The Kickers Over-30 Premier faced the Manhattan Celtic Bhoys tonight for a place in the League Cup Finals. In the 5th minute Ardian Hasco found Khouri Mullings with the square ball through the penalty area and this time, Khouri found the back of the net. As it would turn-out, that is all the scoring the Kickers would get in this match. But, that was also all the scoring the Kickers would need as Team Defense would take center stage the rest of the way. Celtic was limited to shots from distance which Fitzgerald was able to hold too as the Kickers held onto the victory.
